II. Structure, functions and responsibilities of the Institute
According to Decision No. 2731/QD-DHTCM dated 27/08/2025 of the Rector of the University of Finance and Marketing on the functions, tasks and powers of the Institute of International Political Economy, the Institute’s organisational structure is as follows: 1 Director, 1 Deputy Director, 1 Head of Department, and 2 Deputy Heads of Departments; three subjects include Political Theory, International Political Economy, and Financial Economic Management. The staff consists of 41 officials (40 lecturers and 01 secretary). Among the 40 lectures, there are 2 Associate Professors, Senior Lecturers, 7 Principal Lecturers, 30 Lecturers, and 1 Teaching Assistant; academic degrees include 12 PhDs, 9 PhD candidates, 18 Masters, and 1 Graduate Student.
The Party branch of the Institute has 28 party members. The Trade Union of the Institute has 41 members.
A well-trained team of lecturers and officials has done an excellent job with the tasks allocated to them. Furthermore, the Institute has a team of lecturers from university’s other departments as well as a team of visiting lecturers with strong professional credentials from Ho Chi Minh City institutions and academies.
Functions: To assist the University in providing students with theoretical and practical knowledge of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, and the History of the Communist Party of Vietnam; to provide students with basic knowledge, with a focus on economic management and international political economy (with plans to open postgraduate training and PhD programs in Economic Management in the near future); and to implement Party and State policies. The Institute's major responsibility in performing the above responsibilities is to organise teaching and preparing courses and lectures on modules of Political Theory and Economic Management, as well as to organise scientific research for lecturers and students in the fields of subjects under its control.
Over the years, the Institute and its lecturers have been honoured to receive noble titles and awards:
